Repairs due to white-ant damage were carried out to the following:- Taipo Island Quarters, Taipo Clerks' Quarters, Taipo Police Station, Sai Kung Police Station, Sha Tau Kok Police Station, Sheung Shui Police Station, Taipo Police Bungalow.

The electrical installations were maintained in good order.

108. Improvements to Buildings:- The principal improvements carried out were Fanling Lodge - guards to windows, Sai Kung Police Station - new entrance to Charge Room, etc., Taipo Police Station - concrete floor, partitions, drying lines, etc., Taipo Land Office - extension of surface channels, Lok Ma Chau Police Station - yard arm to mast, Taipo Clerks' Quarters - grilles to windows, Waglan Lighthouse - winch and pumps, Shatin Police Station - new fireplaces and guards to stairs.

Electrical improvements and additions were carried out at Assistant Superintendent of Police's Quarters, Taipo Bungalow and Taipo Police Station.

Expenditure $1,249.67

109. Maintenance of Lighthouses - All Lighthouses were maintained in a good state of repair, although painting and colourwashing in accordance with the recurring programme were not carried out. Major repairs included the following:- Waglan Lighthouse - general repairs, Gap Rock Lighthouse - renewed steel joists and repairs to verandah.

Electrical installations at Gap Rock and Waglan Lighthouses were maintained in good order.

110. Roads and Bridges (Maintenance and Improvements):- The surface of approximately eighty miles of roads was generally maintained in a satisfactory manner.

The following items of work were undertaken and completed by the end 1936:- Widening portion of Taipo Market to Fanling Road; repairs to Shatin Causeway at Shatin and Lok Lo Ha; repairs to So Kun Wat Bridge; repairs and strengthening to Tai Lam Cheong Bridge; re-surfacing through gill's cutting on the Taipo Market to Fanling Road; construction of catchwater channels at 12 and 13 miles Taipo Road; approach Road to Taipo Railway Station surfaced and tarpainted; On Fu Road at Taipo Market surfaced, channelled and tarpainted; Fanling-Sha Tau Kok Road from
