11. Piers.-(a) Permanent.-In Hong Kong, an extension of 1,485 square feet to Permanent Pier No. 40 which realized $4,900.50 in premium, was granted to The Douglas Steamship Co., Ltd. In Kowloon, an extension of 22,500 square feet to Kowloon Permanent Pier No. 35 which realized $27,675.00 in premium, was granted to The H.K. & Kowloon Wharf & Godown Co., Ltd. and $554.73 premium was charged for an excess area of 451 square feet found on survey for preparation of Lease plans.

(b) Temporary.-Licenses to erect two piers in Hong Kong and one pair in the New Territories were issued during the year with fees amounting to $3,657.71.

12. Re-entries.-Forty lots in Hong Kong (five of which were cancelled), twenty lots in Kowloon (five of which were cancelled), twenty-eight lots in New Kowloon (ten of which were cancelled), thirty-one lots in Southern District (New Territories) and four hundred and ninety-two lots in the Northern District (New Territories) were re-entered during the year.

13. Permits to occupy land for short periods.-These were of a very miscellaneous character and too numerous to admit of individual mention. (a) The total amount of fee collected during the year was $276,140.64 being $105,239.81 for Hong Kong, $104,532.24 for Kowloon and $66,868.59 for New Kowloon. New permits issued during the year totalled 639 and 338 were cancelled for various reasons; the total number of permits in force being 4,988. (b) The total amount of fees collected during the year in the New Territories was $2,320.41, being $493.20 for permits in the Southern District and $970.75 for yearly, $730.96 for five yearly, $62.50 for ten yearly and $63.00 for twenty-one yearly permits in the Northern District.

14. Prospecting and Mining Licenses.-There were no new Prospecting and Mining Licenses issued during the year and no renewals.

15. Naval and Military Lands.-Memorandum of Transfer of an area totalling 26,000 square feet on Tung Lung Island was completed on 12th January, 1935 and the sum of $1,760.00 was credited to Government by the War Department and memorandum of Transfer of an area of 11,235 square feet from the Admiralty in connection with the new Wan Chai Market was completed on 30th September, 1935.

16. A staff of one Chief Draughtsman and fifteen Chinese draughtsmen was employed during the year, and 5,486 plans as detailed below were prepared in connection with eighteen land sales, 867 leases and miscellaneous permits, exchanges, etc.
