The contractors for the removal of nightsoil from Shaukiwan, Aberdeen, Pokfulam and Ap Lei Chau, and Stanley and Tai Tam respectively, carried out their work satisfactorily.
During the year nightsoil from Victoria and Kowloon was removed from the Colony by the Government to Kwai Chung Bay and sold to a Contractor for disposal outside the Colony; this work was carried out satisfactorily.
5.—DISINFECTION AT DISINFECTING STATIONS.
Table V shows the number of articles and vehicles disinfected during the year 1935. The figures for 1934 are given for comparison. The use of portable "Sack" disinfectors has been continued.
6. DEAD BOXES AND AMBULANCES.
Dead boxes are obtainable at any hour of the day or night at the two Disinfecting Stations and also by day at the Eastern and Western District Sanitary Offices.
The maintenance of a reserve of hand ambulances on behalf of the Public Ambulance Service controlled by the Inspector General of Police was discontinued.
7.—PUBLIC BATH HOUSES.
Table VI shows the number of men, women and children who used the Bath Houses during the years 1934 and 1935.
8.—CEMETERIES, MORTUARIES, CREMATORIA.
Table VII (i) shows the number of interments at the various cemeteries during the year 1935 and gives particulars of cremations, bodies deposited in the Tung Wah Hospital Mortuary, and removals from the Colony before burial.
The exhumation of remains and their removal to the Urning Cemetery at Ap Lei Chau was undertaken during the year as a departmental service. Details of the number of exhumations carried out will be found in Table VII (ii) together with the number carried out by relatives of deceased persons.
9.—UNDERTAKERS.
One undertaker's licence was issued and four cancelled during the year making a total of fifty-two on the register on 31st December, 1935.
