Apart from the poisoning cases mentioned elsewhere, there are only two cases of interest under this head. The first was the examination of cartridges containing a lachrymatory substance. These cartridges could be fired from an ingenious pistol shaped like a fountain pen. These exhibits were used in an armed robbery.
7. The other case was the examination of a sample of urine from a man who was later accused of murder. The accused was alleged to have taken alcohol previous to committing the crime; alcohol was found to be present in the urine.
