24. Electric fans have been installed, but these should seldom be needed, since the school is so built and situated that it benefits by every breeze that blows.

25. Scholarships provide for the further education of the most promising boys in urban schools.

26. Cheung Chau School.-Headmaster, Mr. Cheung King Pak, B.A. Maximum enrolment was 60. Average attendance 51-an increase of 21.

27. The headmaster and his staff did much for the general welfare of the islanders. They organised concerts (attended by 600 people), evening classes, Health Evenings with lantern slides and all kinds of athletic sports which were open to the seven vernacular schools.

28. A Scouts Troop (the 18th) was formed. The scoutmaster is Mr. Chow Kok Sik. Troops from Hong Kong frequently visited the island and camped in the school grounds.

29. The Old Boys' Association was established. The first president is Mr. Lam Pak To, a former headmaster.

30. Ellis Kadoorie School for Indians.-Headmaster, Mr. A. T. Hamilton. Maximum enrolment 174. Average attendance 167—an increase of twenty. Many Indians now bring the younger members of their families to the Colony, and it has been found necessary to open a Kindergarten Department.

31. The situation of the school with its garden and spacious grounds is ideal, yet the bill of health has not been very good. Many of the boys lack stamina. They are susceptible to bronchial and digestive complaints.

32. Mr. Bishen Singh for many years the Senior Master of this school proceeded on leave to India prior to retirement in October.

33. Belilios Public School.-Headmistress, Miss Skinner, M.B.E. Maximum enrolment was 499. Average attendance 456-a decrease of ten due to the conversion of an unsuitable classroom into a library.

34. An Art Room was opened. More accommodation was provided for the Staff. The school was re-wired.

35. More equipment was and will be provided for the gymnasium. Chinese girls are now very keen on modern physical training and have even adopted 'shorts' for use in the gymnasium. A playground with facilities for tennis, net-ball and other games has been provided for them near Bonham Road,
