a series of twenty-five rectangular openings each 9′-3″ wide by 3'-6" deep separated by piers 9" thick supporting the beams and decking which carry the road-way across the overflow. The roadway at a level of 267.50 A.O.D. is continuous across the dam and has a clear width of 6'-0" between parapets.

210. Pipe Line. This work was referred to in paragraphs 278 and 279 of last year's Report. The period of maintenance under the Contract for laying expired on 31st December, 1931 and the retention money was paid in 1932.

211. Upper Pumping Station. This work was referred to in paragraph 280 and 281 of last year's Report. The period of maintenance under the Contract for constructing the station expired in February and the retention money was paid. The cost of the cable supplying electric power to the Station was charged to this year's vote.

212. Lower Pumping Station. This work was referred to in paragraphs 283 and 284 of last year's Report. The period of maintenance under the Contract for constructing the Station expired in February and the retention money was paid.

213. Filtration Plant. This work was referred to in paragraphs 285 and 286 of last year's Report. The period of maintenance under the Contract for constructing the plant expired in April and the retention money was paid. The final instalment of Messrs. Paterson's account which was due on completion of satisfactory final tests was paid during this year. Minor alterations to the inlet of the pure water conduit to the Service Reservoir were carried out.

214. Pokfulam Dam Alterations. Under the original scheme provisions were made for carrying out certain alterations at the Pokfulam Dam but these have now been abandoned.

215. Access Roads. Under this heading a new Access Road from the Wanchai Gap-Aberdeen Road to the top of the Lower Dam and concrete steps and pathway therefrom to the bottom of the dam were constructed. The road is 10 feet wide and is 690 feet in length. Surfacing was left until next year when consolidation has taken place. The work was carried out satisfactorily by Messrs. Kin Lee & Co. under the Annual Maintenance Contract.

216. Reconstruction of Main Outfall Nullah at Aberdeen. This work was necessitated owing to the existing drainage area discharging at the Paper Mills being considerably increased under the Aberdeen Valley Scheme. A contract for $20,263.80 was let to Messrs. Eastern Mercantile & Construction Co. on 1st November and by the end of the year good progress was made with the excavation, demolition and concrete work.
