They have attained proficiency in the use of such instruments and appliances as the Range Finder, Abbe Drawing Apparatus. In obtaining blood films from Chinese, in the examination of Chinese children for enlarged spleens, they have been of great assistance. Captain Gore, R.A.M.C., continued a course of instruction from the previous year.

(g) CO-OPERATION WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS AND PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS.

Visits were paid to Lyemun with the Drainage Engineer, P.W.D., the R.A.M.C. and R.E. Staff, in connection with drainage schemes. Sookunpoo Valley was also visited with the Drainage Engineer. The side of the matsheds housing the coolies engaged on road making on the Stanley Peninsula was inspected with the Medical Officer, St. Stephen's College, and the position considered to be satisfactory. Visits were paid by the Staff to the New Service Reservoir at the Botanical Gardens opposite Government House; no breeding places were found. Shing Mun was visited with the Director of Medical and Sanitary Services and the Resident Engineer, Shing Mun Dam. Inspections were made of the drainage undertaken by the P.W.D. at Lyemun, Taipoo, Sookunpoo, and Stanley. Larvae and adults sent in by the Medical Officer, St. Stephen's College, and by the Medical Officer of Health were examined and reports furnished. Papers on the subjects of mosquitoes and mosquito-borne diseases were written for "Caduceus" and the "Hong Kong Naturalist".
