230. Improving existing main roads for motor traffic.-This work was referred to in paragraph 165 of last year's Report. The reconditioning and strengthening of Nathan Road and a portion of Lai Chi Kok Road with 7″ reinforced cement concrete was continued.

231. Ma Tau Chung Extension of culvert to Argyle Street (Ma Tau Wei Village).-This work, which was carried out under Annual Contract, was commenced in March and completed in October, the total length laid being 859 feet.

234. Distributing Water Mains, Kowloon.-The total length of water mains laid during the year was 4,559 feet varying in diameter from 4″ to 12″. The principal lengths were laid in Boundary Street East from Waterloo Road (1,195 feet of 6″ main) and in Chatham Road extension (680 feet of 12″ main).

PORT WORKS.

235. Mong Kok Tsui Ferry Pier.-This work was referred to in paragraph 177 of last year's Report. The roofing over of this pier was completed at the end of June and the Ferry Co. transferred from the temporary pier and commenced a service from the new pier in July.
