The officer stationed in the New Territories was also employed on work in connection with the renovation of stones defining the Northern Boundary of the New Territories.

25. A further increase has to be recorded in the number of new works dealt with in 1928, as compared with the previous year.

The number of domestic buildings completed at the end of the year also shows an increase over the figures for 1927. In most districts the works which were in progress at the end of 1928 is an indication that the number of houses completed during the year 1929 will probably be even greater than 1928. regards "non-domestic" buildings, the number actually completed at the end of 1928 was less than the previous year, but a considerable amount of work was in progress, so that the figures for 1929 will probably show a corresponding increase, is in the case of domestic buildings.

Attention is drawn to the graph embodied in this Report which is of interest as showing a comparative statement of the number of plans approved and houses certified during the period from 1905 to 1928,
