12. Alterations were carried out at Kowloon Station for the better handling of passenger traffic, by a re-arrangement of the positions of the booking and examination accommodation, whereby not only the railway officials but the police, customs and travelling public benefit greatly.

13. Repainting of the station steelwork and platform awnings was started towards the end of the year and will be completed early in 1928.

14. The Railway Pier at Kowloon was temporarily opened for the use of certain sections of the community during the closing of the public pier at Kowloon Point for repairs. This entailed the erection of steel fencing and gates to divide the private from the public areas, and the provision of more electric lighting.

15. A large section of the Kowloon Station Yard was fenced off for use by the Military Authorities as a parade ground for troops while another section, on the reclamation, was handed over for storage purposes.

16. Some of the European quarters at Hung Hom were re-distempered and painted.

17. The station buildings at Yaumati, Shatin and Taipo were renovated.

18. An additional small booking office was built at Taipo Station at the pier gates, for the convenience of passengers arriving by the Sha U Chung ferries.

19. Work on the improvements and alterations to Taipo Market Station was not begun till October. The major portion of the earthwork together with the extension of a 5-foot culvert was carried out by December.

20. Electric lighting was installed in the offices, on the platforms and approach road at Yaumati Station.

21. The traffic staff quarters at Yaumati, Shatin and Taipo Stations were thoroughly overhauled. Owing to the ravages of termites, some of these buildings required to be entirely re-roofed, and reinforced concrete was in places substituted for timber in partitions and cockloft floors.

22. Further drainage work was carried out in the vicinity of Taipo Station with the object of reducing mosquito breeding haunts.

23. The approach road to Yaumati Station was entirely remetalled, and the roads leading to Taipo and Fanling Stations were partially resurfaced.
