Early in the year, it was considered desirable to obtain further information before formulating a scheme. Important data had been collected from various firms and individuals in the Colony and abroad by the end of the year.
KOWLOON.
186. Public Conveniences at King's Park, Kowloon.-The work comprised a water flushed latrine of eight seats and a urinal. It was embodied in a Contract let to Messrs. Lee Tat & Co. on 14th September for the sum of $4,423.65. By the end of the year these conveniences were nearing completion.
Branches of the sewer in Gascoigne Road were extended along the roads through King's Park to connect with them.
1927 Special Vote, $17,000.00 1927 Expenditure, $15,671.63187. Filling in Old Indian Cemetery Area at Tai Shek Ku Valley, Kowloon.-It was considered desirable that the low lying area in Tai Shek Ku Valley should be filled in so as to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes in view of its proximity to the Kowloon Hospital.
A Contract was accordingly let to Messrs. Li Hing & Bros. in July for the sum of $12,500.00, and very good progress was made during the year.

188. Lai Chi Kok Prison.-Sketch plans were prepared for alterations and additions to the present Warders' Quarters and also for a three-storeyed block of six flats for married Warders.
189. Construction of three Conveniences at Sham Shui Po. Owing to the possibility of the health of the troops being affected by reason of the lack of public conveniences in the district adjacent to the Sham Shui Po Camp, it was decided, at the request of the Military Authorities, to erect two Trough Closets, one at the junction of Nan Chang and Un Chau Streets with sixteen seats and two urinals, and the other at the junction of Yen Chau and Un Chau Streets with a similar number of seats and urinals, and a temporary Latrine opposite N.K.I.L. 435 with sixteen seats and four urinals.
A Contract was let to Messrs. Keng Tack Cheong on the 15th August, 1927, for the sum of $12,282.25.
