156. Surfacing, etc., Roads in Kau Lung Tong Development Area. This work was referred to in paragraph 153 (a) of last year's Report.
The work of kerbing, channelling, macadamizing and tar painting carriageways, and of paving footways and scavenging lanes was continued on such roads as had been handed over to the Kowloon Tong and New Territories Development Company.
Several other roads were roughly laid out to formation level preparatory to being surfaced.

157. Kau Lung Tong Development Scheme, Excavation and Filling.—A reference to this work was made in paragraph 156 of last year's Report.
This item formed part of Contract No. 24 of 1922 and was divided into two parts, viz., Northern and Southern Sections.
As alluded to in the foregoing paragraphs, Messrs. Li Hing & Bros., who were the Contractors executing this Contract, became involved in litigation over the Contract in question in so far as it applied to the Southern Section, which resulted in very little work being executed during six months of the year. They lost the case, and as a consequence Messrs. Lam Fau Nam, who were the plaintiffs to the action, made an endorsement on the Contract and carried on the work as from 27th August, 1927, to its completion by the end of the year.
The work on the Northern Section was, however, prosecuted with good progress during the year by Messrs. Li Hing & Bros.

158. Filling in large area at Kowloon City.—This work was referred to in paragraphs 218 of the Report for 1925 and 159 of that for last year.
The progress made was good, the area required for exchange purposes being completed in June when the Contract with Messrs. Li Hing & Bros. was terminated. No further work was undertaken during the year.
