WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY.

176. General.

New Installations.-The following additional sets have been installed during the year:-

1 K.W. Transmitter fitted at Royal Observatory. K.W. 100 Watts 1 K.W. Rescue Tug. 1 K.W. Water Police Station, Tsim Sha Tsui. 1 K.W. No. 4 Police Launch. 1 K.W. No. 2 Police Launch.

Improvements to Existing Plant. The rearrangement of the transmitting plant at D'Aguilar has been carried out, with the result that more efficient control of the plant is now possible, and room for an additional transmitter has been provided without enlarging the present buildings.

The reception of all wireless messages addressed to V.P.S. (D'Aguilar) is now effected direct in the Post Office Building, this arrangement saves both time and personnel formerly occupied in transmitting messages by landline to and from Cape D'Aguilar.

Press Messages.-The reception of Rugby Press has resulted in approximately a quarter of a million words of press being received direct from England and distributed free of cost to the local papers.

Law and Regulations.—An Ordinance was passed during the year to amend the law relating to Wireless Telegraphy.

Broadcasting-The necessary laws have been enacted for the collection of licence fees for Wireless Telegraphy reception.

No definite offers for broadcasting were received during the year.

Short Wave working.-Temporary communication with England was effected on a 240 watt transmitter.
