160. Miscellaneous Works.--The following were the principal works carried out under this heading:
(a) Erection of a bamboo pier at Lai Chi Kok.
(b) Filling in and draining area at Cheung Sha Wan.
(c) The filling in of a lot near N.K.F.L. 6, below Tai Po Road, referred to in paragraph 220 (c) of last year's Report, was not completed.
1926 Estimates, $10,000.00 1926 Expenditure, $1,704.27161. Compensation and Resumptions.--This vote provided for the resumption of areas required in connection with street widening and improvement schemes, new roads and the development of village areas in accordance with the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance. Particulars of the resumptions will be found on page 53.
1926 Estimates, $250,000.00 1926 Expenditure approved, $228,205.67 Less amounts refunded, etc., $2,568.47 Net Expenditure, $225,637.20162. Extension of Kowloon Catchwater.--This work was referred to in paragraph 222 of last year's Report.
The works were completed in 1925, the Contractor's maintenance period ending on 30th June. The final settlement of this contract was still in dispute at the end of the year.

At the commencement of the year only the overflow and washout channels and general tidying up remained to be completed. The Contractor's maintenance period expired on 30th June, but the settlement of the final certificate was still in dispute at the end of the year.
Shek Lei Pui water was discharged into the Kowloon Reservoir on January 11th, and by March 21st, the entire contents of the reservoir above 610.00 A.O.D. had been utilized to augment the Kowloon supply.
