Telephones. A number of aerial lines were damaged during the Typhoon of July and September. Telephonic communication between the G.P.O. and the Peak district was interrupted for 24 hours in July and between the G.P.O. and Victoria Hospital area for a similar period in September.
Recreation Grounds.—A vast amount of debris was washed onto the grounds entailing heavy expenditure for its removal.
Cemeteries. At the Colonial Cemetery there was a vast accumulation of debris and silt, and many grave-stones had to be repaired, as well as the re-erection of a brick boundary wall.
At the Chinese Cemetery at Mount Caroline a landslide occurred necessitating the removal of a number of permanent graves, and some terraces were badly scoured. Minor damage occurred here and also at Kai Lung Wan East Cemetery.
Waterworks.—The outstanding feature of the damage sustained from the Typhoon of July under this heading was the disaster which befell the Pokfulam Station at Pokfulam Road. Water Mains, Filter Beds, and Catchwaters also suffered badly. For details see paragraph 66.

63. Stores Depreciation.—The adjustment of store values and reconditioning of old stores have been met from this vote, amounting to $16,035.65.
The following sums were credited to this vote:— $14,038.72 being rebate on Freight Charges in connection with stores purchased in England through the Crown Agents; $1,950.02 being the value of stores returned which had been issued prior to 1926.
The result showed a net expenditure on this vote of $46.91.
