257. Works executed in connection with the Strike.-As a result of the general strike in the Colony, certain works, of which the following are worthy of mention, were carried out :-
Architectural Office, Public Works Depart- ment, Star Ferry Pier Entrance, Hong Kong, do. Kowloon, New Government Offices, New Kowloon City Police Station, 1925 Estimates, Temporary kitchens. 1925 Expenditure, $10,194.87 Barricade. do. Temporary Bunks, and installation of Gas Cookers for the Telephone and Postal services. Temporary Bunks and Mess Room furniture.SPECIAL EXPENDITURE.
258. Five two-ton Dennis Motor Lorries.-These Motor Lorries were purchased to accelerate the haulage of material to the different works.
1925 Estimates, $40,000.00 1925 Expenditure, $38,358.58259. Three nine-ton Motor Rollers.-These Motor Rollers were purchased for use on the roads in the following districts:-
Hong Kong (City), Kowloon, .2 .1 1925 Estimates, $21,000.00 1925 Expenditure, $19,859.62260. One ten-ton Steam Roller.-Its acquisition was for use on the roads in Kowloon.
1925 Estimates, $12,000.00 1925 Expenditure, $6,403.95261. Cubitt Motor Car.-This was purchased for the use of the Director of Public Works.
