94. Maintenance of Waterworks, Taipo.-The total quantity of water supplied during the year amounted to 10.91 million gallons, or an average consumption of 30,000 gallons per day.

There were 26 meters in use at the close of the year.

95. Water Account (Meters, &c.).—Meters were examined and repaired in 78 instances.

The expenditure under the Vote was as follows:-

96. Officers' Quarters.

Additional Quarters at rear of "Le Calvaire."-This work, referred to in paragraph 95 of last year's Report, proceeded satisfactorily during the year.

The retaining wall extending along the two sides of the site was completed as were also the reinforced concrete foundation columns which extend down to solid earth and support the foundations of the building. By the end of the year, the brick-work and concrete stood at ground floor level and the whole site has been adequately protected by the laying of the concrete floors and surfacing to yard.

Quarters for Senior Officers, Gough Hill. This work was referred to in paragraph 95 of last year's Report.

Work progressed satisfactorily, the West House being completed on 31st March, and the East House and Garages on 31st May. The entrance drive was formed to an easier gradient than as originally designed and at the bend increased in width from 10'0" to 20'0" in order to permit of cars passing. The surface of tar macadam was laid by the Road Department,
