The 4 remaining prisoners were kept in custody for several months at Waichau but after the city fell into the hands of General Cheung Kai Shek, these four were released. At Fan Lo Kong a man in one of the houses raided fired on the troops who had come to search. This man was summarily shot, he was in possession of a revolver and an automatic. He turned out to be a man called Chan Shui Wai alias Yeung Ah In, a well known robber and pirate.
3. Murder, Armed Robbery, Kidnapping and wounding at Tai O village, Lantau Island on 25-3-25.-At about 5.45 a.m. on the morning of the 25th March, 1925, some 60 armed bandits landed near Tai O village at a place called Po Chu Tam, from a large white launch which came from the direction of Lin Tin, Chinese Territory. They quickly made for Tai O village where they held up and robbed the inmates of 35 houses and shops. Some of the robbers were posted as piquets to guard the approaches to the village. One such piquet guarded the path leading to the Police Station. The attack was a complete surprise and owing to the posting of piquets the villagers were unable to raise the alarm, or inform the Police who were in entire ignorance of the raid until after the departure of the robbers. The Police station is situated on a hill some distance from the village and can only be approached from the village by one path. The bandits who appeared to be very well organised were armed with rifles, revolvers, hatchets and daggers. One female villager, who cried out on the robbers approach, was shot dead by them: another was wounded in the leg. Two villagers were kidnapped. In all property consisting of jewellery, money and clothing, to the value of approximately $28,146.50 was stolen. The robbers left with their booty, at about 8 a.m., in the launch in which they came. It is suspected that they were ex soldiers or bandits from the Heung Shan or Sun Tak districts.
