Conduct:-The discipline of the Guards was good, 24 men were dismissed for misconduct.

Musketry All the guards are periodically exercised with the revolver, and instructed in the use of the Winchester rifle. There was a great demand on the part of the Public for the services of Indian Guards during the acute period of the Strike. A considerable number of men was fortunately available owing to ships laid up.

GAMBLING.

Two hundred and eighty-six gambling warrants were successfully executed during the year as against 344 in 1924. There were seven cases in which no convictions were obtained.

There were fifty Lottery cases, compared with 81 in 1924.
