2. The strength of the C.I.D. on December 31st was:-

3. During the year an European detective Officer has been appointed to the Hung Hom Division and a Principal Chinese detective has been appointed to Yaumati to assist in supervision of the work of Chinese Detectives in Kowloon.

The employment of searchers on Steamer and Ferry wharves continued throughout the year with satisfactory results. No case occurred in which Pirates boarded craft in Hongkong.

4. Piracy continued to be a serious menace,

In addition there are 29 female searchers employed throughout the Colony.

5. The Searching Staff had the additional duty of examining all incoming steamers and passengers since June 1925. Results have shown that this work has been very desirable during the Strike and Boycott. Many cases of possession of seditious documents were obtained on the Seafront.

6. The effect of the Strike on Crime may be gauged from the figures for Robbery, which are as follows:
