9. Miscellaneous.-A photographic aerial survey of the Colony was made by members of the Royal Air Force attached to H.M.S. Pegasus. Some weeks prior to the arrival of H.M.S. Pegasus, which was carrying out the work an officer arrived in the Colony, and in conjunction with the Survey Office fixed numerous ground marks for this purpose. All necessary information regarding trigonometrical values was supplied and assistance given in every way and the cost of same was borne by the Colonial Government. In conjunction with this survey a party in charge of an officer of Royal Engineers arrived in the Colony about the end of the year. All assistance that was possible was given the party to facilitate this work together with a complete list of all trigonometrical stations with the values of same. Other stations were fixed where necessary and the work of observing and valuing these is in hand. All stations fixed by the Royal Engineer party have been or will be permanently marked and co-ordinated with the present system. A reconnaissance of Lantao Island will be undertaken at the earliest opportunity with a view to completing the survey of this Island. This however will probably have to wait until next October when weather conditions are more suitable for this work.
An extensive area of about 878 acres was contoured at Laichikok for the Military Authorities in connection with the proposed reprovisioning of part of the garrison in this neighbourhood.
The following plans were prepared for official use during the year:- 181 Lease plans (in triplicate), 19 Sale plans (in duplicate), 160 Tracings, and 6666 Sunprints etc. in connection with proposed sales, permits, etc., whilst 1640 permits for temporary occupation of Crown Land and 60 licences for temporary piers and slipways were issued.
