A contour survey was made and a contract for the formation of the site above and to the East of Laichikok Bay was got out and put to tender. The lowest tender received was so high that it was deemed inadvisable to accept it.
With a view to determining the amount of rock likely to be met with in forming the site, an experimental trench was cut and, as a result thereof, the site was abandoned.

201 Furniture for Government Offices and Quarters.-A full set of furniture and a part thereof were supplied under this vote.
33 single items of furniture were furnished to Police Stations, Government Schools, etc., and several desks, etc., removed to the various schools in the New Territories from Hongkong. Repairs were carried out as required.

202 Refuse Dump,-Cheung Sha Wan.-This work was referred to in paragraph 202 of last year's Report.
The depositing of 2,929 c. yds. of material was required during the year in conjunction with the dumping carried out by the Sanitary Department.
At the close of the year, it became necessary to extend the projecting mole which was taken in hand.
