184. Chinese Cemeteries,―Laying out new areas. The work carried out under this heading has been alluded to in paragraph 37 of this report.
1924 Estimates, $ 8,000.00 Sup. Vote, $12,353.84 1924 Expenditure, $10,960.04 $ 4,353.84185. King's Park, Laying out ground for Recreation purposes.--This work was commenced at the beginning of the year, and satisfactory progress maintained. About 135,000 c.y. of material has been excavated.
Most of the cutting and filling was completed, and the following additional works carried out:--
About 6,000 cubic yards of vegetable soil was spread to a depth of 6".
About 17,500 yards super. of turf was laid.
About 8,000 feet run of cement concrete channelling of various sizes was constructed.
1924 Estimates, $100,000.00 1924 Expenditure, $ 73,751.20186. Miscellaneous Works.-The following is a brief description of the principal works carried out under this heading :-
Royal Observatory.-The erection of a Printing Room was completed, as was also the Entrance to the grounds.
Yaumati Slipway.-Alterations and improvements thereto, and provision of Capstans and extra Cradle Rollers.
Hunghom Police Station.-A small wooden garage erected for the storage of motor-cycle.
Yaumati Pig Lairage.—Addition of 4 pig pens.
Fire Station, Salisbury Road.--Tar macadam 4" thick was laid on the drill ground.
