167. Open Market,-Bowring Street. This work was referred to in paragraph 170 of last year's Report.
By the end of the year, the Market was nearly completed, and there remained only the finishing touches to be made and the connection to the drainage system effected.

(d) is a convenience of the latest improved type with 26 seats (20 men and 6 women).
(e) is a small flush urinal to serve the ricksha coolies who congregate at this point.
(a) was completed by end of June.
(b) The Trough Closet section was nearing completion by end of the year, whilst the bath-house was well advanced.
(c) was completed by the end of the year.
(d) Foundations were in, and brickwork has been commenced by end of the year.
(e) This was nearing completion by end of the year.

Dust Station at Pitt Street, Mongkoktsui.-This pier, of two bays of rolled steel joists bearing a reinforced concrete deck, is supplied with a frame at its outer end supporting a hinged shoot which is raised and lowered by means of block and tackle. The entrance from Pitt Street is enclosed by a brick screen wall provided with sliding gates.
