147. 18″ Main over portion of section between Albany and Elliott Filter Beds.-This work was referred to in paragraph 131 of last year's Report.

Owing to the lateness of the Spring rains, it was not possible to recommence this work, until late in June, but by October a length of 1,346 feet had been relaid in 18" pipes from Albany to Peak Road which completed the work under this Vote.

This unfiltered main now consists of a length of 1,346 feet of 18" pipe from Albany to Peak Road, a length of 4,754 feet of 12" pipe from Peak Road to the junction of Bonham Road and High Street, and a length of 4,100 feet of 18" pipe from this point to the Elliott Filter Beds.

148. New Workshop and Plant.-This work was referred to in paragraph 132 of last year's Report.

As Government was not able to allocate a new site for a Workshop, it was decided to erect some of the new machines, and put them in operation in the existing building.

The following new machines have been erected and are now in use :-

One 16" S, S. & S. C. Lathe,
One 10½" do. do.,
One Radial Drilling Machine,
One Power Joist Sawing Machine,
One Belt Driven H. P. Fan,
One Deadweight Gauge Tester.

Several other new machines arrived, but it was not found possible to erect them as no space was available.
