STAFF.
Inspector R. Duncan was in charge at Ma Tau Kok up to 22nd April, 1922, when he was relieved by Inspector W. Old who continued in charge up to the end of the year. Senior Inspector H. Knight was in charge at Kennedy Town throughout the year assisted by Inspector Hudson up to 30th May, 1922, when the latter retired. Inspector W. Coombs relieved Inspector Hudson. On 23rd December, 1922, Inspector Roylance was transferred to the Depôt. Overseer Johannsen continued in charge of Central and Western Markets throughout the year.
GENERAL STATISTICS
Cattle. The total number of cattle admitted to Government Depôts for the year was 52,967 against 55,556 in 1921. In Kennedy Town 44,530 were admitted against 46,247 in 1921. In Ma Tau Kok 8,437 were admitted against 9,307 in 1921. These are the only slaughter houses for cattle in the Colony.
Pigs. The total number of pigs admitted to Kennedy Town was 271,186 against 292,184 in 1921. This includes 46,261 admitted to Kennedy Town and afterwards removed to other slaughter houses in the Colony, or exported from the Colony.
Sheep and Goats. The total number admitted to Kennedy Town was 26,653 against 30,732 in 1921. As in the case of pigs this includes 10,245 admitted to Kennedy Town and afterwards exported or removed to Ma Tau Kok and other places.
DISEASE IN Depôts.
Rinderpest. Only three cases occurred all being imported from West River districts.
Tuberculosis. Seven cases occurred all in European cattle against six cows and one pig in 1921. No cases found among Chinese stock. In addition to above 19 carcases of cattle were condemned as unfit for food on account of various diseases. Six pigs were condemned on account of Swine Fever, etc.
