MENDICANTS.
17. Forty beggars were dealt with by the Magistrate, and three who were sick were sent to the Tung Wah Hospital. 572 were sent to Canton as follows:

DEPORTEES AND VAGRANTS.
19. 960 persons were banished from Hongkong.
778 persons deported from Singapore were sent on by Police.
4 persons deported from British North Borneo were sent on by Police.
141 vagrants were received from Singapore and sent on by Police.
582 vagrants were received from Dutch East Indies and sent on by Police.
1,087 vagrants were received from Saigon and sent on by Police.
76 coolies were received from Singapore and sent on by Police.

20. The following licences were issued during 1916:-
