In this connection it should be noted that effective action was taken during the year by the various Street Committees under the Chinese Public Dispensaries Committee who, acting on the advice of Mr. Brewin, deputed one or more of their numbers to visit all houses which had been abandoned by their inmates on the occurrence of plague or small-pox, and did other good work in securing compliance with the Sanitary Regulations of the Colony.
