GAP ROCK LIGHTHOUSE.
During 1909, eight hundred and fifty-four (854) vessels passed the station all of which were reported.
Three thousand five hundred and thirteen (3,513) telegraph messages were sent including weather reports for Observatory, and six hundred and fifty-five (655) messages were received, telegraphic communication being maintained throughout the year, with the exception of 24 hours interruption between 1 p.m. on the 19th and 1 p.m. on the 20th October. There were forty-eight hours and ten minutes (48 hours 10 minutes) fog and the signal was fired three hundred and four (304) times. On four occasions the relief was delayed by bad weather.
WAGLAN LIGHTHOUSE,
During the year ending December, 1909, two thousand one hundred and sixty-eight vessels were reported, and in addition two thousand three hundred and forty-eight messages were sent and seven hundred and sixty received. Owing to telegraphic communication being interrupted, seventy vessels were not reported.
Two hundred and one hours and twelve minutes of fog were reported from this station during the year, and the fog-gun was fired two thousand one hundred and eight times.
On six occasions the relief was delayed by bad weather.
GREEN ISLAND.
During 1909, 1,610 vessels were signalled and reported.
In addition 449 messages were received, and 486 sent.
Owing to telephone communication being interrupted 13 different times during the year, 39 vessels were not reported.
