# PROVISIONAL URBAN COUNCIL
the experts and public at large into the selection mechanism that is now widely-accepted. Mr. Chairman, if we really wish to offer tribute and commendation to workers in the filming industry, we must give careful consideration to the selection mechanism. For similar reasons, the DP also recognizes and affirms the contributions made by other performing arts industries, but we must exercise due care in coming up with a selection mechanism acceptable to those in the trade and outside the trade. We should not set up a selection committee under the Council to take charge of the decision-making carelessly.
Mr. Chairman, I so move the motion.
MR. LAI HOK-LIM (in Cantonese): Mr. Chairman, I second the motion.
Chairman (in Cantonese): The motion has been proposed and seconded. As Mr. LAM Man-fai has moved an amendment to the original motion in accordance with Standing Order 21(12A), will Mr. LAM please put forth the amended motion and speak on it.

However, just now Mr. WU Chi-wai of the Democratic Party (DP) only saw Mr. Bruce LEE's contribution as an ordinary film worker's contribution and therefore barred him from the memorial gallery. I believe that the DP's view of regarding Mr. Bruce LEE as a film worker is shallow.
Mr. Bruce LEE integrated his solid training in martial arts with modern technological media to promote Chinese martial arts overseas through films and TV. His contribution is in fact an honour of China and Hong Kong. What I am holding in my hand is the latest edition of Times magazine, in which Mr. Bruce LEE is listed as the century's...
MR. LAI HOK-LIM (in Cantonese): Mr. Chairman, in accordance with the Standing Order on 'Interruption by Members', I request Mr. LAM Man-fai to clarify what he has said because Mr. Wu Chi-wai never said in his speech.
