PROVISIONAL URBAN COUNCIL

not be counted towards the quorum? Would the Chairman please read out the passage?

CHAIRMAN (in Cantonese):-It is 'shall withdraw from the meeting'. The English wording is very clear, showing that he cannot be counted towards the quorum, but the Chinese wording is not too clear. Right?

THE HON. Ambrose Cheung Wing-sum (in Cantonese):—Yes.

Mr. Lai Hok-LIM (in Cantonese):-The meaning in English and Chinese is the same.

CHAIRMAN (in Cantonese):-'Shall withdraw from the meeting' means that there will be no physical presence, meaning that he cannot be counted towards the quorum. Difficulties in this respect will be posed.

Members, let us handle it this way. What do the mover and seconder say if I propose that the motion be referred to the Standing Committee next Tuesday for further discussion? Having the issue discussed at the Standing Committee is just the same. If Members agree, I will declare adjournment.

Ms. ADA WONG YING-KAY (in Cantonese):—Mr. Chairman, I agree.

Chairman (in Cantonese):-I declare that the motion will be included in the agenda of the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Whole Council to be held next Tuesday (21 July 1998) for further discussion.

There being no other business, the meeting is adjourned. The meeting will resume at 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday, 8 September 1998. Thank you.

Adjournment-6.28 p.m.
