MOTION
(1) MR. JOSEPH CHAN YUEK-SUT, Chairman of the Public Health SELECT COMMITTEE, moved:-
(i) ‘RESOLVED that pursuant to section 56 of the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, Cap. 132, the Amendment Bylaw as set out at Annex 1 to Committee Paper CW/165/97 shall come into operation on the date of its publication in the gazette."
(ii) ‘RESOLVED that pursuant to section 36 of the Provisional Urban Council Ordinance, Cap. 101 and section 142 of the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, Cap. 132, the Council hereby delegates the powers and functions in by-law 12A introduced by the Food Business (Urban Council) (Amendment) Bylaw 1998 as set out at Annex I to Committee Paper CW/165/97 to the Director of Urban Services.'

The purpose of amending the Bylaws is to implement the policy of segregating the trading of live water birds from other live poultry at retail level and in the Western Wholesale Food Market. It also aims at safeguarding
