III. QUESTIONS

(1) MS. JENNIFER CHOW KIT-BING asked (in Cantonese):-'Since I have received comments from a number of citizens on the cleanliness and other problems of public toilets, I have the following questions:

(a) As far as I know, contractors are responsible for the cleansing of more than 300 PUC public toilets. What is the monitoring system of the cleansing services?

(b) Will the Council consider setting up a points system, based on the number of complaints received, in order to monitor the performance standard of the contractors?

(c) Professional drivers consider that the Council has not taken care of their need to use public toilets. What is the number of public toilets which are situated at locations convenient for parking vehicles?

(d) Since some public toilets are situated on the second floor of the Council's facilities, this causes inconvenience to physically handicapped and drivers. Will the Council review and improve relevant corresponding facilities?

Dr. Ronald Leung Ding-pong, CHAIRMAN OF THE WORKING GROUP ON PUBLIC TOILETS, replied (in Cantonese):-This four-part question concerns the monitoring system and design of public toilets.
