The minutes of the meeting held on 9 September 1997 was confirmed.

Report to the Provisional Urban Council by the Secretary of the Provisional Urban Council for the month of September 1997.
III. QUESTIONS
(1) Mr. Li Wah-MING asked (in Cantonese):—
'(a). At present, most of the vehicles that transport live fish, be they moving or stationary, often have water discharged outside the vehicles which pollutes the surrounding environment. I want to ask: Is there any legislation which regulates such goods vehicles regarding dripping of water? Is the legislation adequate? In the past three years, how many prosecutions have been taken against the drivers of vehicles that dripped water? (b) At present, most of the vehicles for transporting meat (whether raw or cooked) do not have any air-conditioning facilities or are in poor hygiene condition. As such, the meat may become rotten or contaminated during the transportation process. I want to ask: Is there any existing legislation which regulates the internal specifications of such goods vehicles so as to reduce the chances of such meat becoming rotten? In the past three years, how many prosecutions have been taken against the drivers of vehicles in poor hygiene condition?
