### MOTIONS
(1) MR. JOSEPH Chan Yuek-sut, Chairman OF THE PUBLIC Health Select Committee, moved the following motion:-
RESOLVED that the Public Cemeteries (Urban Council) (Amendment) Bylaw 1996 be made under section 116 of the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, Cap. 132.
He said (in Cantonese):-Mr. Chairman, as Chairman of the Public Health Select Committee, I rise on the motion standing in my name:
The Public Cemeteries (Urban Council) (Amendment) Bylaw 1996, made under section 116 of the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, Cap. 132, now before the Council will, when adopted:
(a) add the definition of 'human remains' which replaces the definition of 'body';
(b) increase the fee for a service provided by the Council;
(c) give further powers to the Urban Council and define new offences in respect of the control and management of public cemeteries in the urban area;
(d) provide exemption to both the Council and the Government from liability for loss of or damage to articles placed inside or in the vicinity of any grave in a public cemetery;
