HONG KONG URBAN COUNCIL

if they can keep or even enlarge their social circle. In fact, the Urban Council can play a role here by perhaps organizing more recreation and sports activities suitable for the elderly. Of the activities organized by us at present, only around 16% are designed for the aged population. We have never carried out a survey to find out if such activities are suitable for them or if they enjoy them. In the motion debate last month, Ms. Grace Au Yuk-har moved to hold recreation and sports activities regularly as well as to conduct periodical scientific surveys to reflect the opinions of the elderly. That way, we can understand their real needs. Mr. Chairman, I support the motion.

CHAIRMAN (in Cantonese): Does Mr. CHAN Kwok-leung wish to exercise his right of reply? If not, the motion is put to vote.

The question was put.

The motion was carried unanimously.

Today's meeting is hereby adjourned. This Council meets again at 2.30 pm on 14 May 1996 (Tuesday).

Adjournment--6.45 pm.
