# HONG KONG URBAN COUNCIL
MR. WONG SHIU-CHEUCK (in English):—I have the pleasure to second the motion.
MR. PETER C. K. CHAN (in Cantonese):—Mr. Chairman, I support this motion and, I trust that, in future, these bylaws are necessary to be passed by this Council and if it is short, then it should be translated into Chinese, especially the explanatory note, so that if we are not sure about English, we can always refer to the Chinese version. If we can do this in future, the public will be most happy. This is all I wanted to say. But I support the motion.
MR. P. F. CHAN (in Cantonese):—Mr. Chairman, I agree with Mr. Peter CHAN. Before raising this motion, I had already made a speech to explain it and what I said is actually longer than the explanatory note. I trust that if translated into Chinese, Mr. CHAN will understand.

CHAIRMAN (in English):—Now, before we adjourn, I wish Members of this Council and their families a very happy Christmas and a most successful and prosperous 1975.
MR. HILTON CHEONG-LEEN (in English):—Mr. Chairman, may I, on behalf of my fellow Councillors, express to you our warmest congratulations on your enchainment (Laughter) in office which was so generously donated by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the Mercantile community. It is a fitting tribute not only to the work of this Council, but also to you, Mr. Chairman, for your high sense of purpose and of dedication to the work of the Council. I would like to express the hope to you that you will feel free to consider that you are equally enchained by the other Members of this Council as a whole in following and carrying out the policies of the Urban Council. I know that you are always aware of the views of the Council and, equally, the Members of the Council are very much aware of your initiative and sense of fair play and the leadership which you have displayed. We only hope that the chain will always remind you of the partnership which we have been most happily enjoying so far.
