(ii) in pursuance of (i), careful selection for training, both departmentally and as appropriate by attachment to British local authorities, of minor supervisory staff and of members of the Health Inspectorate.
(c) To continue with renewed efforts including the preparation of a determined plan to seek maximum public co-operation to reducing littering generally through educational campaigns and if necessary prosecution.
(d) To reduce the fouling of footways by dogs by continuing prosecution, by providing more dog latrines at suitable sites and by pressing for the removal of stray dogs from the streets.
(e) To continue to compile a realistic set of costing returns which would reflect the efficiency of the cleansing services and interpret trends for planning purposes.
21. To continue to modernize and improve the fleet of specialized vehicles with a view to increasing the operational efficiency of refuse collection and street cleansing.
Cemeteries, Crematoria and Funeral Parlours
22. (a) Cemeteries
(i) To ensure optimum usage of existing cemetery land by exhuming deserted graves.
(ii) To improve the amenities and facilities in public cemeteries.
(iii) To exercise better control over the management of private cemeteries through legislation.
(iv) To press for the early allocation of land for the extension of existing private cemeteries as required.
(b) Crematoria
(i) To continue to encourage and promote cremation. (ii) To press for the early reprovisioning of the existing Diamond Hill Crematorium.
(c) Funeral Parlours
(i) To press for the early reprovisioning of the existing Hung Hom Funeral Depot.
(ii) To press for early allocation of funeral parlour sites adequate for future development.
