HONG KONG URBAN COUNCIL
REPORT BY MR. B. A. BERNACCHI, CHAIRMAN OF THE HAWKERS SELECT COMMITTEE.
MR. BERNACCHI :-Mr. Chairman, in accordance with the proviso to part (4) of the Resolution adopted by this Council at its meeting on 2nd April, 1968, I am reporting a change in the composition of the Hawkers Select Committee by the addition of:
Mr. Hilton CHEONG-LEEN
Mrs. Elsie ELLIOTT
Mr. D. C. BRAY, Deputy Secretary for Chinese Affairs
Mr. J. B. LEES, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police
Mr. A. M. J. WRIGHT, Director of Public Works
Mr. J. P. ASERAPPA, Commissioner for Resettlement
Mr. G. T. Rowe, Director of Social Welfare
and
Mr. A. J. SHEPHARD, Commissioner for Transport.
The addition of these Members, which was approved by the Standing Committee of the Whole Council at its meeting on 10th September, reflects the Council's intention to reconsider the whole policy on hawkers, to devise policies in co-operation with all those concerned at the highest possible level and thereafter to get these acceptable policies enforced on the ground.
MOTION.
THE CHAIRMAN, URBAN COUNCIL, moved the following motion:
"THAT under By-law 4 of the Public Conveniences (Conduct and Behaviour) By-laws, 1961, the Urban Council hereby makes the following Order:
(1) This Order may be cited as the Public Conveniences (Charges) (Amendment) Order, 1968.
(2) The Principal Order is amended in paragraph 2 by adding, after item (8), the following new items-
'(9) Public Latrine in the Multi-storey Car Park, Middle Road, Kowloon.
(10) Public Latrine at New Blake Pier.
(11) Public Latrine at Junction of Gascoigne Road and Nathan Road".
He said: The purpose of this motion is to comply with the provisions of By-law 4(1) of the Public Conveniences (Conduct and Behaviour) By-law which requires that 10 cents should be charged for the use of any coin operated compartment provided in public latrines managed by the Council.

The motion was carried unanimously.
