time consideration would be given to the suggestion to use this building as an extension to the Museum and Art Gallery. I am prepared, if Members so wish, to make representations to Government now, that, from the aspect of the Museum, the time is already appropriate for that consideration to be given, so that forward planning for the development of the Museum and Art Gallery, at present limited to the two top floors of the High Block, may proceed.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have finished. I apologise for exceeding my allotment of time, and in concluding let me simply say to all Members, on behalf of the Urban Services Department, thank you for putting up with any shortcomings on our part, and for sustaining us with your unfailing support.

The motion for the acceptance of the Statement of Progress and Policy was moved and seconded at the last meeting.

The question was put.

The motion was carried.

OTHER BUSINESS.

CHAIRMAN:-Ladies and Gentlemen, certain Members of the Council have requested that a special meeting of Council be held in the near future to discuss the question of resettlement policy. Will a Member therefore now move under Standing Order 7(d) that the Council do now resolve itself into a Committee to discuss this request.

MR. BERNACCHI:-Mr. Chairman, this is connected with an urgent motion proposed by myself and I have pleasure now in formally moving under Standing Order 7(d) that this Council do resolve itself into Committee for consideration of, inter alia, a date to hold an extraordinary meeting of the Council.

CHAIRMAN:-Will a Member second please.

DR. Woo: I beg to second the motion.

MR. WATSON:-Mr. Chairman, are we allowed to discuss it? No reason has been given for it. We do not know where we stand and why this has been put forward.

MR. CHEONG-LEEN:-Mr. Chairman, speaking as an individual I was not even informed.

CHAIRMAN:-This motion is one which may be proposed without notice. It is a purely formal motion to go into Committee. May I

give Members a lead and suggest that we vote in favour of this, and then we will go into closed session. Will those in favour please raise their hands? Those against?

(A majority of Members raised their hands. No Members voted against).

(At this point the public were asked to leave the Council Chamber).

Council then went into Committee at 5.26 p.m.

Council resumed at 6.02 p.m.

(A record of the proceedings in Committee is contained in U.S.D. 2/31/63(c)).

CHAIRMAN:--I have to report that as a result of deliberations in Committee of the Whole a recommendation has been accepted that the Resettlement (Policy) Select Committee set up a sub-committee for the purpose of examining the whole field of resettlement policy.

ADJOURNMENT.

CHAIRMAN:-That concludes the business for this meeting. Council stands adjourned until Tuesday, 4th June, 1963.
