Picture of a paddle-steamer ("Ichang") belonging to a Hongkong Firm (Butterfield & Swire/China Nav. Co.) Fortrait of a 4th-rank Civil Official (during Monarchy) May be of North or South: probably painted in the South prior to 1850.
Chinese Funeral procession to grave: May be anywhere: probably painted in South.
56. Portrait of a Chinese lady: probably painted by a Chinese
pupil of George Chinnery, and, therefore, little doubt that it was painted in Canton, Macao or Hongkong?
For the reasons given above I consider that there is no reason not to consider these pictures (35, 39,44,56) as emanating from the school of painters in Hongkong and its neighbourhood.
