Gentlemen,
With reference to your letter of 2nd February concerning a cheque issued in the internment camp in Hong Kong during the war, I am directed by Mr. Secretary Creech Jones to enclose as requested a copy of Order GN No. 5 of 1st September 1945.
It has not been possible to trace in this Office any specific enactment under which the Order was revoked. I am, however, to enclose a copy of a Note which was enclosed with the cheques eto, when they wore returned and which suggested a procedure for settling such claims. In view of the last sentence of the note you may consider it desirable to approach the Colonial Secretary, Hong Kong, for any further information which you may require.
I dig
Gentlemen,
Your obedient servant,
KESERS. HAMLYN TAYLAN & NECK.
