A. ALLISON.

I have now heard from the Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation about the person named. At the time of the outbreak of war his monthly salary with the Bank was HK$425. His Provident Fund was maintained by the Bank during the war years and after liquidating a loan account with the Bank for HK$2,191.00, Mr. Allison received payments from the Bank totalling approximately A£1,050 during 1945 and 1946. In April 1949 he was given a further compassionate grant of A£100 and was advised that this must be considered as a final payment. The Bank regrets that nothing more can be done for him.

I have informed the Bank that this information

is being passed to you.
