Thank you for your letter of the 23rd March about the Soviet wrecks at Hong Kong.
I enclose a copy of a Bavingram which we have received from the Governor of Hong Kong on this subject; as you will see be confirms that these hulks have in fact been sold to Chinese purchasers and that no further action is now necessary in the matter. are sorry that the Embas y in Moscow had so much trouble in pursuing the Hong Kong claims with the Soviet authorities and they will no doubt be glad to know that the matter is now dead.
I am sending a copy of this letter and enclosure to Mitchell of the Ministry of Transport who is of course interested in view of the Soviet claim on the War Risks Insurance office.
