Lr. William Anderson, "Gilstead," 1leasance Avenue, Dumfries, founded the Anderson Music Company Ltd., in Hong Kong in 1913. he himself retired in 1936 leaving a brother and a co-director, Mr. F.J. Fountain, to carry on. Both these gentlemen were captured in Hong Kong end were interned in Hong Kong by the Japanese.
At the time when Hong Kong fell Messrs. Anderson had fifty or sixty pianos which represented their principal cerital. it seems that all these were shipped to Japan end the shop was turned into a Japanese prison.
Mr. Anderson, who is now aged seventy-five, has still to gain his livelihood es he has lost all his money in Forg Kong.
I should be grateful if you could indicate how long it is likely to be before a settlement for losses of this description is made. I should also be much obliged for any special enquiries you may institute in the matter.
Yours sincerely,
Niall
Macpherson.
