I am directed by Mr. Secretary Griffiths to refer to your letter of the 6th June regarding your war losses sustained in Hong Kong, and to say that
as the Far Eastern Private Chattels Scheme is administered by the Board of Trade, your letter has been sent on to that Department who will no doubt communicate with you shortly.
As regards your request for help from the Government of Hong Kong, it is regret ted that nothing can be added to the first paragraph of the Board of Trade's letter of the 6th July, 1948, with which was enclosed a statement explaining why it was decided not to institute a system of war damage compensation in Hong Kong and which I am returning herewith.
M.P. RODGERS, ESC. 89 GLENBLIGH ROAD,
CABRA, DUBLIN,
REPUBLIC OF IRELAND.
1 am,
Sir,
Your obedient servant,
Sgd 4. Bocock.
