I refer to this Company's letters of the 29th March 1950 and 15th April 1950 in the above connection and have to inform you that following receipt of instructions from my Principals, the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, Limited, I am closing down this Company's Offices in Hong Kong in the near future. The exact date of closure has yet to be decided but this will almost certainly be before the end of the current month
I shall of course advise you of and probably within the next two weeks,
the exact date on which this Office will cease to function but in the meantime perhaps you will kindly give your consideration to the following · suggestion from my Principals:
My Principals point out that following my departure from the Colony they will be without representation here and any communications which would normally be addressed to this Office would of necessity have to be directed to themselves in London. Bearing this in mind they respectfully suggest that it would perhaps be more expedient if the negotiations in regard to the above site were resumed between themselves and the Colonial Office since this would obviate the trianguler correspondence which would inevitably ensue if the matter were dealt with between my Company and the Hong Kong Government on the one hand and between the Hong Kong Government and the Secretary of State for the Colonies on the other. I shall be glad if you will let me have your
my views on this suggestion as soon as possible so that I may advise Principals accordingly.

In addition to the above, I have been instructed to enquire whether Government would be interested in taking over from my Company certain Private Lots situated within the boundaries of the above property and the South Option Area, which were secured by my Company in order to obtain a clean title to the whole of this area. The Lots concerned, together with the purchase price paid by my Company are given below and I shall be glad if you will let me know in due course whether you would be prepared to purchase these Lots from us:
