It will be seen that Far Eastern Department has similar sort of claims to deal with, and I would call attention to Sir S. Abrahams' minute of 21st January, 1949, on 52325/49 below. It is very important that we ourselves and the Eastern Department should take the same sort of line over these things, and whatever line it is decided to take in the Hong Kong case may well have a bearing on Far Eastern Department action. Mr. Chaplin has action outstanding on 55342/43 below, and those papers, together with 52325/49, will require to be recirculated to him as soon as decisions have been taken on the Hong Kong file, which he also should see.
