History of negotiations with Brunt since receipt of
your telegram No. 790 is summarized in personal and
confidential letter from Mr. Hall to D.P.W. No. 54403/15/51
of the 2nd August. This letter was written because it
was assumed that the P.W.D. would be concerned with
Brunt's proposals, which seemed of some magnitude.
Position now is as follows:
(a) Since returning to U.K. Brunt has apparently
done nothing to implement instructions in your
telegram No. 790. Indeed he has stated that
he is unable to do so without assistance.
(b) Instead, he has spent his time allying himself
with the firm of Brian Colquhoun and Partners,
whom, he considers, can best supply him with
the help he needs.
(c) He has now informed my advisers of the terms
on which he is prepared to produce plans and
estimates for the project. I enclose a copy
of this letter and of a letter from
Brian Colquhoun and Partners to Brunt showing
Wt. 23588/882 50m 9.49 Wa. & Co. 51/s
