An Ordinance to regulate trade unions and trade disputes.
[11th March, 1948.]
BE it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:—
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Trade Unions and Short title. Trade Disputes Ordinance, 1948.
2. In this Ordinance-
trade dispute means any dispute between employers and workmen or between workmen and workmen, which is connected with the employment or non-employment or with the terms of employment, or with the conditions of labour of any person;
"trade union " means any combination whether temporary or permanent, the principal purposes of which are under its constitution the regulation of the relations between workmen and masters, or between workmen
workmen and workmen,
or between masters and masters whether such combination would or would not if this Ordinance had not been enacted have been deemed to have been an unlawful combination by reason of some one or more of its purposes being in restraint of trade:
